Ambassador Animals
Welcome, Pearl! This sweet little girl was found missing part of her tail so had surgery to remove the rest of it. She's quite the little trooper! She is mostly blind, in part because of her albinism and also from head trauma. She will be an ambassador raccoon here at Mountain Tails and we are so glad to have her! Here's to hoping she has a good and speedy recovery. 🦝 💜
Meet Little Pierre, our newest Ambassador Animal!
This little babe had to have his leg and one of his tiny toes amputated from being caught in a bait trap. We think the hole in his little nose is where mama tried to pull him out of it so we can only imagine how upset she must have been. We're not sure exactly how long he was in the trap (or how long mama tried to pull him free) before a kind person found him and contacted Marybeth here at Mountain Tails Wildlife Rehab.
From the bottom of his little remaining paws, thank you to all for donations and well wishes!
Say hello to Stan!
Stan is a Red-footed Tortoise who was found close to death in a field in Maryville by a kind farmer plowing his field. Finder took him to UT and since he is not native to the area (likely released buy some idiot), he was released to Marybeth to be used as an educational animal.
Stan and Marybeth are absolutely crazy about each other! He follows her around the house and yard, wanting to be wherever she is.
Except for when he doesn't. Stan has a wandering spirit and has done so on two occasions, again being found by kind people nearby, the last time being a mile away. He can move pretty fast, about the same speed as a puppy or kitten trying to keep up.
Stan has an outside enclosure, but is currently grounded inside. We will be sure to let everyone know on FB when he will be having another adventure with us at future events.
